I live in Santa Fe and get a season pass to our mountain, but I love popping over to Pajarito at least once a season. Their list tickets are super cheap when purchased advance online; the price goes up day of. It's about an hour drive from Santa Fe. Pack a lunch, their food options aren't great. I love the wide runs and expansive views. Powder days here are very pretty and even when there's a crowd of people lift lines are short and you can find areas to carv fresh lines. My preference as a snowboarder is blue runs, and there are lots of options for me. For apres ski I enjoy going into Los Alamos and hitting up Bathtub Brewery for drinks or Pajarito Pub for food.

Great deal on rentals and lifts, just need weather to cooperate and bring on the snow this winter!

Nice and cheap ski resort meant for people learning how to ski or snowboard. They offer ski and snowboard rentals as well as snow gear rentals as well. Tickets have to be bought online and are activated at the desk. The same is for the food at the cafe they have. Food at the cafe is ready in 30 minutes or less. The food can be ordered at the cafe front area or online. There are no microwaves at the cafe. When the ski resort is busy, the people at the cafe will open the floor right above the cafe seating area. Since this year was La Niña, only 3 lifts (including magic carpet) were open and the snow was rather icy. When the afternoon came, the snow was icy in the shaded areas and was ok where there was sun, but due to many people skiing in the same area, there were many icy patches, and many people fell over those. Beginner is best for skiers and snowboarders learning for the first time, but the magic carpet - or as they call the surface lift - is best for first timers. They also offer lessons, but with observation (this needs to be confirmed) there were only ski lessons that happened by far. The parking area is a one way road where a person heads down and gets out from the overflow parking area. DO NOT HEAD OUT THE WAY YOU CAME. Also MAKE SURE TO GO AT A LOW SPEED. Cars may be coming out of the parking and the view from the backwards or from the front is limited. If the main parking is full, head for the overflow parking, which can be accessed by driving through the main parking then going around. The overflow parking isn’t paved so be careful as some areas may be icy or covered in snow. The road that leads up to the ski resort may also be icy at times, so be careful since the car or a different four-wheeled vehicle starts sliding backwards due to the steep incline/decline (depending on which direction you are going) that may be covered in ice.

I would call this a nice family mountain. Or for beginners trying to push it. There is a green trail that snakes through the wide mountain. With blue slope to the left and mostly black slopes off to the right. Awesome views. Reasonably priced. Not 100% open, but worth the day trip from ABQ.

First time skiing, ever. Rick the super, was able to squeeze my Two boys for a 2hr lesson on Sunday morning. By Tuesday afternoon they went down a single Black run. Mason and the others did a great a job in the Cafe. Not crowded at all. We'll be back next year

Nice mountain with clear slopes and good snow based on the weather. Good rental system, where rentals were already set up and waiting for you upon arrival, and good learning area. Lodge had a nice menu and very friendly staff. good experience overall

Nice little ski area. Rentals are required to be bought online beforehand, pickup was very easy. They need better food options but what's there works ok. Some runs aren't groomed early in the season despite being "open" but they are pretty obvious. Cheaper than Santa Fe, and a perfectly fine place to ski.

I visited this place yesterday. I had never skied before, so I took a two hour lesson with my kids (first time for them too). Our instructor was very patient with me and made the lesson super fun for my kids. They have coffee, hot chocolate, burgers and frito pies at the cafe (not expensive at all and they take cash too). The bathrooms are clean and the music is nice
